20 Seconds on “Prince Caspian”

I suppose a spoiler follows, so be warned.

I liked it, but:

I would haved liked more Aslan and more Edmund but I’m told it stayed close to the book. I also sort of feel like the Narnians started an unjust war. Maybe not. Maybe the oppression they struggled under didn’t translate from the book. In any case, the parallels to the conquest of the Levant are interesting. Without waiting on Aslan, the first mission is a failure from the start. The folly of expediency is a theme in the biblical narrative as well. I also enjoy the idea that the returning king(s and queens) do not recognize the houses of the holy made in their honor and seem confused at the thought.

Also, more Griffins.

the makers of Prince Caspian kept to the original story better than i would have expected… i had heard they were going to make it into a silly pure-action flick, but thankfully this was not so much the case
